Following in his father’s footsteps, Adam is a mechanical HVAC Testing, Balancing, and Commissioning specialist with well over a decade of experience on the west coast of British Columbia. Adam has a passion for understanding complex system designs and applying his knowledge to set them up to their optimum state. He also thrives in understanding the needs and wants of design teams to provide them with the highest-level workmanship possible. Adam is no stranger to technology either, as he is keen on introducing new tools to help teams better understand the requirements of the Testing, Balancing, and Commissioning process. He believes “the more knowledge teams have, the more successful the end result will be”.
I was raised in: Ladner British Columbia.
Earliest Testing & Balancing experience: At the age of 15 I began work on the Blusson Spinal Cord Centre with my first pair of steal toes that any clown would be proud of.
Something I did not expect: Entering the industry at such a young age I could never have imagined the passion and level of interest in mechanical HVAC systems I have acquired.
Most fond memory of the industry: The day I handed in a successfully completed Testing and Balancing report for the Michael Audain Art Museum located in Whistler, British Columbia. Having just turned 24 years of age, this was my first major project in a lead role.
Something I have learned: Just how important the Testing, Balancing, and Commissioning processes are. Growing up I had no idea what Balancing was, no matter how many times my father explained it. It wasn’t until I began working on site, when I only just started to understand the importance and the impact of a properly balanced system.
Why I stayed: I have a drive to learn, with technology constantly evolving in the HVAC industry the curve never seems to flatten. I am always curious to read that “next” design and understand the “next” intent. And of course, maybe most importantly, how to apply my acquired skills to produce the intended result.
